Stroud District Youth Council

Stroud District Youth Council and the nine locality based youth forum groups represent the views of young people in the district; enabling them to collectively use their right to have a voice and be heard on relevant issues of concern. Subsequently they engage with decision-makers to influence change and help make a positive contribution to improving the lives of people and communities in which they represent.

Why we exist: United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

There are many reasons why we exist, but fundamentally it’s because young people have the right to be heard on matters of concern to them – the basis of all our work is the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCRC, is the basis of all of Unicef’s work. It is the most complete statement of children’s rights ever produced and is the most widely-ratified international human rights treaty in history.
