Local Youth Forum Groups

The local youth forum (LYF) groups are situated across the Stroud district in localities with a large youth population. Whilst these mainly centre in and around market towns and large villages, young people from the surrounding areas are also encouraged to participate and have a voice.

LYF groups tend to be informal by nature and welcome young people from 11 to 18 years to visit, participate and engage in local projects, initiatives and campaigns to seek greater cohesion and changes to benefit the whole community. In the past Youth Forum groups have worked closely with Parish and Town councils, and other local organisations to change how their community sees young people, improve local resources, put on events, write for local papers, and run awareness campaigns.

Interaction with adults looking to raise community based issues is of course welcome – please contact the respective group.

Representation from different communities and social backgrounds to Stroud District Youth Council is encouraged from each LYF group. This helps local issues to be discussed and supported and enables a diverse range of opinions to be heard and subsequently help shape the greater voice for young people in the district.
