News Highlights 2022-2023


After three rounds of democratic elections, Stroud District Youth Council elected its Leadership Team, British Youth Council Representatives, Chair and Vice-Chair for 2022-2023. Cate James-Hodges as Leader, Morgan Smith as Principal Member for Health and Wellbeing, Megan Land as Principal Member for Environment and Tom Wickham-Basset as Principal Member for Local Democracy. Alice Standing and Finn Smith as British Youth Council Representative Brandon Watkins as Chair, Maxi Wells as Vice-Chair.

Stroud District Youth Council’s Chair Brandon Watkins and Leader Cate James-Hodges promoting the Youth Council’s manifesto by promoting the launch of ‘Manifesto Mondays’. Date: 5th September 2022

On the 20th of October (2022), Stroud District Council’s Chair Steve Robinson, awarded Charlotte Bignall, Lily Haines and Tom Wickham-Basset Long Service Awards, for their service of over five years.

Charlotte Bignall volunteered between 2011 and 2016.

Lily Haines volunteered between November 2016 to September 2022.

Tom Wickham-Basset volunteered between February 2017 September 2022.

Stroud District Youth Council members, Alyssa Pearce, Brandon Watkins, Cate James-Hodges and Megan Land attended Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership’s Annual Audit. After being heavily involved in preparations, the partnership chose Standard 4, to be the focus of this year’s audit. November 16th 2022

Cate James-Hodges Leader of Stroud District Youth Council, and Steve Miles, Senior Youth Work Officer, presented to the Stroud District Local Strategic Partnership on ‘Youth Voice through Informal Education’ on Friday 10th March. The meeting topic was Education and Apprenticeships, with a presentation from both SGS College and Stroud District Youth Council.
